Germany has set itself the goal of reducing annual CO2 emissions by 308 million tonnes by 2030. Digital technologies could play a decisive role in this by contributing 24 percent to the achievement of this goal. Digitalisation has great CO2 savings potential, particularly in the areas of energy, buildings and industry.
Green AI technologies can contribute to the achievement of these climate targets. According to the federal government’s funding catalogue, Stuttgart is the leader in terms of green AI projects in relation to general AI-related projects, with a share of over 40 percent (period 2017-2024). In other regions, this share is only between 15 and 21 percent. The most important fields of application for R&D projects in the field of green AI in Stuttgart are:
– AI for e-mobility & autonomous driving: 22 projects
– AI for energy-efficient production: twelve projects
– Emission reduction in road traffic: ten projects
At Green AI Day, AI-MATTERS will present itself in the context of AI for energy-efficient production. In addition, some exemplary services and opportunities for collaboration will be presented. We look forward to interacting with all guests at the event.
