The challenge
Industrial refrigeration systems are critical assets that require high reliability and continuous operation. However, implementing predictive maintenance strategies is often limited by the lack of high-quality and diversity of datasets, particularly for rare failure scenarios.
During the initial stages of the project, Seguas identified significant constraints in the availability and quality of machinery vibration data, which restricted the validation and performance assessment of AI-based anomaly detection models.
Overcoming these limitations was essential to ensure the robustness and real-world applicability of predictive maintenance solutions.
The solution
In collaboration with the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón (ITA), and within the framework of the AI-Matters project, Seguas developed an innovative approach based on the generation of synthetic data combined with real operational data.
This methodology enabled the simulation of fault conditions and the enrichment of existing datasets, allowing a more comprehensive training and validation of AI models. By introducing simulated anomalies and new measurement data, the project significantly improved the characterization of algorithm performance.
The solution was integrated into a pilot demonstrator focused on vibration data analysis in industrial refrigeration systems, paving the way for scalable predictive maintenance applications.
