European Conference on Crashworthiness of Composite Structures – ECCCS 4th Edition

July 28-30th, 2026

The ECCCS conference, now in its fourth edition, aims to promote the dissemination and exchange of scientific knowledge on the crashworthiness of composite structures. It serves as an excellent forum that bridges academic research and industrial applications, addressing the crash and dynamic behaviour of composites through both experimental and numerical approaches across a wide range of sectors. Originally chaired by Prof. Brian Falzon under the European project ICONIC (Improving the Crashworthiness of Composite Transportation Systems), ECCCS has evolved into a key platform for advancing the understanding and development of crashworthy composite structures.

The conference covers a broad spectrum of topics, with a primary emphasis on composite materials. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Theoretical, numerical, and experimental methods for dynamically loaded composites
  • High strain rate testing and analysis of composite materials
  • Industrial applications in transportation and defense
  • Ballistics and impact shielding
  • Blast effects and explosion resistance
  • Catastrophic failure assessment in engineering structures
  • Lightning strikes and ballistic impacts in composite systems

We invite you to be part of ECCCS4, a distinctive and engaging event offering in-depth exploration of the dynamic behaviour of composite materials and their real-world applications, while encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation across disciplines.
