CEITEC – Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC BUT) is a multidisciplinary research institute focusing on advanced materials, nanosciences, and robotics and industrial cybernetics, located in Brno. Together with Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC CTU) and VSB – Technical University of Ostrava (VŠB-TUO), CEITEC BUT is one of three partners in the Czech node of AI Matters EU and collaborates closely with both national and international partners, to advance industrial innovation and digital transformation.
Within the Industrial Cybernetics, Instrumentation and Systems Integration research programme led by Pavel Václavek, scientists at CEITEC BUT specialize in automation, robotics, sensors, electrical drives, and high-performance computing (HPC). Testbed at CEITEC BUT provides testing and experimentation services namely (but not limited to) in:
- Diagnostics of production machines and industrial drives
- Robotics (manipulators, UGV, UAV)
- AR/VR
- 3D printing
- Vibrodiagnostics, acoustic holography, acoustic emission
- Industrial 5G communications
- Edge-computing, HPC
- Datasets collection and support of AI models training
The RICAIP Testbed Brno is a cutting-edge facility for research and experimentation in flexible production systems and machine diagnostics. It supports the development of robotic applications, AI-driven optimization, and human-robot collaboration, offering a unique environment for testing innovative solutions for Industry 4.0.
Why AI-MATTERS?
Thanks to EU funding and national co-funding, CEITEC BUT provides its services across the European Union at a fully supported price, making advanced technologies accessible to SMEs. The testbed specializes in areas like augmented and virtual reality for industrial use, IoT-enabled diagnostics, and AI-based production planning and optimization, bridging the gap between research and real-world applications. CEITEC decided to join the AI-Matters initiative and become part of the Czech node. We see AI-Matters as a crucial platform for advancing the adoption of AI in manufacturing, enabling innovation, and strengthening Europe’s competitive edge. This aligns perfectly with our expertise in robotics, diagnostics of machines, and cutting-edge research in high-performance computing.
